The information in this article applies to:
When you are using an International Business Machines (IBM) ThinkPad 755- series notebook computer with a MWave DSP (digital signal processor) device that functions as both a modem and a sound card, and you use Microsoft Internet Explorer to download MIDI files from the Internet, you may be unable to play the MIDI files while you are still connected to your Internet service provider. After you disconnect from your Internet service provider, you can play the files.
The MWave DSP device that is included with IBM ThinkPad 755-series note- book computers cannot play MIDI files while the MWave DSP device is being used by a communications program (such as Internet Explorer).
To work around this problem, use a PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) modem to connect to the Internet instead of the MWave DSP modem. When you install the PCMCIA modem, make sure that the resources it is configured to use do not conflict with the resources being used by the MWave DSP device.
