Chinese Language Unsupported in Internet Explorer for Macintosh

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.0 and later does not support Chinese traditional or simplified character sets.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3.0, 3.0a, and 3.01a for Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Apple Computer produces the following two Chinese language kits for the Macintosh:

As of May 1997, there is a Chinese Language Kit Updater disk that updates both language kits to version 1.1.1, and a WorldScript Updater disk that updates WorldScript technology to version 1.1. These disk are available from Apple Computer. Even with these language kits installed, Internet Explorer does not display Web pages with Chinese character sets.
