Partial Messages May Not Be Combined When Received

Last reviewed: September 3, 1997
Article ID: Q154350
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Mail and News version 1.0 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

You may receive multiple parts of a message in Internet Mail that are not combined upon retrieval.

CAUSE

The messages were not all received at the same time and therefore are not combined.

RESOLUTION

Ask the sending party to send the message again, if possible without breaking up the message.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Some gateways or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers reject messages that are too large. Therefore, options to break apart messages over a certain size are needed. Internet Mail can send large messages as separate messages to be reassembled, rather than as one large message.
