IIS: Web Browsers Unable To Find HTM FileID: Q147908
|
When you attempt to access web pages on an Internet Information Server
(IIS) using a web browser, the following error message appears:
http/1.0 404 object not found
This problem occurs because the HTML file requested by the web browser resides in a directory that includes spaces in the directory name. Internet Information Server filter name parser does not correctly process spaces in directory names from some web browsers.
To correct this problem, rename the directory name on the IIS server so that it does not include a space in the directory name. If you want to separate the directory name, use another character, such as a hypen (-).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Information Server version 1.0. This problem will be corrected in the next release of IIS.
