Server Gated Cryptography (SGC) Update for IIS

SUMMARY

Microsoft has released an updated version of Schannel.dll. The latest version provides the following benefits:

  • Banks outside the U.S. and Canada can now use extremely strong 128-bit encryption.
  • Eliminates the need for separate SGC and non-SGC versions of Schannel.dll.
  • Corrects the "Bad Password" error message documented in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • Includes an updated version of Sgcinst.exe that corrects the problem where SGCINST appears to execute but SGC does not work. For more information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The following version of Schannel.dll does not enable SGC and is available as Schannel.exe from Microsoft's ftp site at:

The following version of Schannel.dll enables SGC and is available as Sgcschannel.exe from Microsoft's ftp site at:

 ~ Sgcschnl.exe (size: 171704 bytes) 

After you download the appropriate file to a temporary folder, execute it, and then follow the instructions in the Readme.txt file.
