PRB: Link View Execute

SYMPTOMS

Link View executes programs referenced in Web files when choosing "View Links" on the .htm file.


STATUS

This behavior is by design.


MORE INFORMATION

Link View verifies http:// links to <program name>.exes by pinging the server. This action causes the <program name>.exe to execute.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Create, in a Visual InterDev project, a Web page with a link like <a href="http://someserver/some.exe">some text</a>. Save the file.


  2. Highlight the .htm created in the previous step.


  3. Right-click the file and select "View Links" from the Shortcut menu.


The <program name>.exe referenced in the .htm file executes.
