PRB: Setup of the FrontPage Server Extensions Seems to Hang

SYMPTOMS

When installing FrontPage Server Extensions on Internet Information Server (IIS) 3.0, the installation seems to hang or take several hours to complete.


CAUSE

The FrontPage Server Extensions are examining each Web root and file on the server and listing them for use with the extensions. The setup program will eventually finish.


STATUS

This behavior is by design. With the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions that come with Visual InterDev 6.0, several enhancements have been made to speed up this process.
