The information in this article applies to:
Trying to open a .rc file, when a Java project is open, fails with following error message:
Fatal Error RC1015: Cannot open include file Afxres.h
The Java project doesn't contain an include path, so it cannot find the Afxres.h file as it normally does when no Java project or Visual C++ project is open.
Convert the .rc file to .rct or .res and open it when a Java project is open.
You can generate the .res file by compiling the .rc file. The .rct file can be generated by opening the .rc file and saving it using the Save As option.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
The following steps reproduce the problem. Also this scenario happens when users have both Visual C++ and Visual J++ installed:
1. In an installation with both Visual C++ and Visual J++, open a Java
project.
2. Click File.Open and click an .rc file
The error message appears.
