The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Developer Studio, MSDEV, crashes when creating a new Visual J++ (VJ++) project with the Java Applet Wizard. This occurs only after opening a Visual C++ (VC++) project, which resides on a network drive, with a VJ++- only installation of MSDEV.
To work around this problem, after opening a VC++ project in a VJ++-only installation of MSDEV, exit and restart MSDEV.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, as it becomes available.
Do not attempt to open a VJ++ project after opening a project that does not contain a supported platform in a VJ++-only installation of MSDEV.
1. Open an existing VC++ project, which resides on a network drive, in a
VJ++-only installation of MSDEV.
2. Click OK on the dialog box warning that you don't have the build tools
for that platform type.
3. Close the project.
4. Create a VJ++ project with the Applet wizard with default options.
Notice that MSDEV crashes.
