When installing the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) standalone installation program, or when manually trying to install either ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) or the Remote Data Service (RDS) on a Windows NT system, you need to have Administrator privileges.
There are several components that could cause difficulties when trying to install on Windows NT.
These components are listed below:
To install the updated OLE Automation files, whether by the MDAC standalone, Visual Basic 5.0 AppWizard distribution, or the OLE Automation patch described in the Knowledge Base article below, you must have Administrator privileges.
An Error has Occurred Copying MSVCRT.DLL
Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change
it and insert 'Microsoft Data Access Components 1.5' in the
drive you specify.
Copy files from:
C:\TEMP\IXP000.TMP
- Other DLLs that require Administrator privileges in order to install
correctly are listed below:
Msado10.dll // ADO
Msadce.dll // RDS
Msdadc.dll // OLE DB
Install using the MDAC Standalone EXE with Administrator privileges.
