If you compile the C program in chapter 7, pages 15 and 16, of the "Microsoft Mouse Programmer's Reference Guide" (the three-ring binder edition) using any version of Microsoft C or QuickC, the program compiles correctly. However, it returns the message "Mouse driver not installed" even though the mouse is installed.
This problem is caused by an error in the code. The eleventh line of code incorrectly reads as follows:
if ( m1 = 0 ) {
To solve the problem, change the line to read as follows:
if ( m1 == 0 ) {
The error was corrected in the first edition of the "Microsoft Mouse
Programmer's Reference" (bound edition).
