Conflicts with Microsoft MOUSE.COM 8.0 and DOS=HIGHID: Q73826
|
The MOUSE.COM driver, version 8.0, does not recognize MS-DOS in the
HMA when DOS=HIGH is in the CONFIG.SYS file. MS-DOS and the MOUSE.COM
driver will attempt to load in overlapping memory ranges in the HMA.
The problem is readily apparent when MS-DOS version 5.0 Shell Task
Swapper is used. Using Task Swapper causes the system to stop
responding (hang).
The Microsoft MOUSE.COM driver, version 8.0, adds the /U parameter to its functionality. The /U switch allows the mouse driver to be loaded into the high memory area (HMA) through calls to HIMEM.SYS versions 2.6 and later. The /U switch can conflict when MS-DOS is loaded high.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Microsoft Mouse driver, version 8.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
