Erratic PS/2 Mouse on Gateway Colorbook ComputerID: Q109494
|
When you use a Microsoft Mouse on the PS/2-style port of a Gateway Colorbook notebook computer, the mouse functions erratically. The mouse may open and close windows and jump randomly across the screen.
The mouse becomes erratic if the mouse and mouse driver are not synchronized, which causes mouse movement to be interpreted as button clicks and vice versa. The mouse and mouse driver become unsynchronized on Gateway Colorbook computers when the keyboard buffer overflows and the mouse is moved. For example, if you press and hold down both the SHIFT key and the mouse button while moving the mouse, this problem may occur. The problem has been reported and reproduced in MS-DOS-based programs.
Currently, the only workaround is to use the mouse on the serial port.
