Screen Flashes in Works TaskWizard When Mouse Pointer Moves

The information in this article applies to:

• Microsoft IntelliPoint software versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.1
• Microsoft Works for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a

SYMPTOMS

When you are running a Works for Windows TaskWizard, the screen may flash when you move the mouse pointer over the Works title bar.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you have version 2.0 or later of the IntelliPoint software installed, and you have enabled the Focus feature on the StepSavers tab in the Mouse tool in Control Panel.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, turn off the Focus feature by following these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2. Double-click Mouse.

3. On the StepSavers tab, click the Focus check box to clear it.

4. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft IntelliPoint software versions 2.0, 2.0a, and 2.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
