IMS: Delayed Message Delivery When Using Pickup Queue

SYMPTOMS

You can fill up the Pickup queue faster than SMTP Mail can process it, causing a backlog of messages in the queue. This also causes delays in message delivery.

CAUSE

Messages can be dropped into the Pickup queue faster than SMTP can process them.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
