When you double-click a Microsoft Excel chart in the business plan compound document file (OABPLAN.DOC), make changes to the workbook file, and save the file with another name, the changes are not updated in the chart, and when you double-click the chart again, the linked workbook does not contain the changes that you made.
This behavior occurs because the links in the compound documents that ship with the Microsoft Office Assistant are manual. Therefore, the links do not automatically update to the new filename when you save the linked file with a new name. Instead, the chart or worksheet object remains linked to the original workbook file.
When you have saved a linked file with a new filename, do the following to update the linked information in the compound document:
1. Select the linked information in the compound document.
2. From the Edit menu, choose Links.
3. In the Links dialog box, choose the Change Source button.
4. From the File Name list, select the name of the file you want to
link. Choose OK. In the Links dialog box, choose OK.
Microsoft Office Assistant provides the following compound documents:
1. In the application in which you opened the compound document, select the
linked information that you want to update.
2. From the Edit menu, choose Links.
3. In the Links dialog box, choose the Update button.
