MXL5 Err Msg: "Cannot Start the Source Application"ID: Q141099
|
If you try to insert a ClipArt, WordArt, or Organization Chart object in a Microsoft Excel worksheet, you may receive the following error message:
Cannot start the source application for this object.
You may receive this error message if the Microsoft OLE Extension is not in the System Folder:Extensions folder. Some of the shared applications that are included with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel require that this file be located in the Extensions folder.
If the Microsoft OLE Extension is missing from the Extensions folder, run
the Microsoft Office Setup program and choose the Reinstall option to
replace the missing file.
If the Microsoft OLE Extension is not in the Extensions folder, but is
located somewhere else on your hard disk, move the OLE extension to the
Extensions folder and then restart your computer.
If the Microsoft OLE Extension is in the Extensions folder, this problem
may be the result of an extension conflict. In this case, use Extension
Manager to disable all unnecessary extensions to try and isolate the
extension that is causing the conflict.
The Microsoft OLE Extension is installed by default into the System
Folder:Extensions folder when you run the Setup program for either
Microsoft Office for the Power Macintosh or Microsoft Excel for the Power
Macintosh. If this extension is removed from the Extensions folder, either
manually or through Extensions Manager, Microsoft Excel for the Power
Macintosh will start and function as designed. However, because the
Microsoft OLE Extension controls some of the OLE functionality, you may
experience other problems when you try to use any of the shared programs
installed by Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
