OFF: MOM Toolbar Starts Newest Version Of ApplicationID: Q132982
|
If you install Microsoft Office 97 for Windows on a computer that
contains an earlier version of Microsoft Office, when you click a button
on the Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) toolbar for an application
installed by the earlier version of Office, the newer version of the
Office application starts.
For example, if you click the Microsoft Excel button, Microsoft Excel 97
starts instead of Microsoft Excel version 7.0.
This behavior is by design of MOM because a button for a "registered"
application, or an application that appears on the MOM toolbar by
default, always starts the newest version of an application. To locate a
registered application, MOM uses the information in the Windows registry
file (in Windows 95) and starts the newest or current version of the
application.
