The information in this article applies to:
When you use Microsoft Word version 7.0, you can click AutoCorrect on the Tools menu and choose to replace the period with a period followed by a space. Making this change to AutoCorrect means that you do not need to press the SPACEBAR after you type a period at the end of a sentence.
If you make this change you may receive unexpected results in Microsoft Excel version 7.0. Specifically, when you enter numbers that contain decimal points in Microsoft Excel, the numbers have a space after the decimal point and are formatted as text.
AutoCorrect is a shared feature in Microsoft Office for Windows 95 programs. Any change you make to AutoCorrect is reflected in all Microsoft Office programs that use AutoCorrect.
If an undesirable side-effect occurs in a program due to AutoCorrect, undo the change or disable AutoCorrect in the affected program. To disable the feature, click AutoCorrect on the Tools menu, clear the Replace Text As You Type check box, and click OK.
This behavior is by design of the AutoCorrect feature.
