The information in this article applies to:
In Microsoft Office Binder, when you click Add From File on the Section menu, you are able to add only one Microsoft Excel version 2.1, 3.0, or 4.0 file. If you attempt to click Add From File on the Section menu to add a second file from one of these versions to the same Microsoft Binder, you receive the following error message:
The document <file name> cannot be added to the binder because
the document type is not compatible with Office Binders.
Would you like to continue?
You can click Yes, Yes To All, or No. The file is not added to the Binder
regardless of which button you click.
To work around this problem, do either of the following:
Method 1: Drag the Microsoft Excel file from either the Windows
Explorer or from your desktop to the left pane of the Binder.
The file should now show up as another Microsoft Excel section
in the binder.
Method 2: Open the Microsoft Excel file in Microsoft Excel version 7.0
and save the file in either a version 5.0 or 7.0 file format.
Then, you can add this file to the binder document using any
method.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
