In any of the Microsoft Office programs, when you click New on the File menu, or you click the Start A New Document button on the Office Shortcut Bar, the New dialog box is displayed. The New dialog box has different tabs that display templates available for a program. The number of tabs that are displayed varies according to the program from which the New dialog box was invoked.
In Office 7.0, you can add your own tabs to the New dialog box. This article outlines the procedure you can use to do this.
The tabs in the New dialog box represent folders within the <hard drive letter>:\MSOffice\Templates folder. To add your own tab to the New dialog box, create or move a folder to the Templates folder. The name of the tab will be the same as the name of the folder you just added to the Templates folder.
NOTE: In order for the folder to appear as a tab in the New dialog box, the folder that you put into the Templates folder must contain at least one file. Also, this tab may not be displayed in the New dialog box if it contains only templates for programs other than the program in which you are currently working.
