The information in this article applies to:
In Microsoft Office Binder, when you open a Binder, a section in your Binder may be displayed with the generic Windows icon, in both the right and left panes in the Binder window. Additionally, when you add a new section to your Binder, you may receive an error message indicating that the application could not be found, and the added section may display the generic Windows icon.
This behavior occurs if the application that you used to add the section is no longer installed on your computer or is not registered correctly in Windows. For example, if you remove Microsoft PowerPoint from your computer, when you open a Binder that contains a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation section, the section is displayed using the Microsoft Windows generic icon. The right pane in the Binder window displays the generic icon with the following text:
The section can not be activated inplace within Binder. Double-click
or select Section-View Outside to edit the data.
However, when you double-click the section, or click View Outside on the
Section menu, nothing happens. You do not receive an error message.
Similar behavior occurs if you add a section to a Binder using an application that is not registered correctly in Windows, or is registered in Windows, but is not installed on your computer.
To work around this behavior, install the application that you used to create the section in the Binder. The application must be installed and registered correctly in Windows in order to view the data in the Binder section.
