OFF97: Registry Keys Remain After RFS Upgrade from Office 7.0ID: Q168517

When you run Microsoft Office 97 Setup, and then click Yes to remove an earlier version of Microsoft Office, Setup fails to remove all of the Microsoft Windows registry keys from the earlier version of Office.
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and
Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete
Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in
Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency
Repair Disk (ERD).
The following is a list of all the Microsoft Office 7.0 registry keys that
remain after you upgrade a Microsoft Office 7.0 "Run from Network Server"
installation to a Microsoft Office 97 Custom installation (with all options
selected.)
