Setup Error Message "Version of Jet Not Valid"

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Setup program for one of the programs listed above, you may receive the following error messages:

   The Version of Jet is Not Valid

   [Error while configuring ODBC drivers!]
   The configuration of the ODBC Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) driver
   failed.

   Microsoft Office was not completed successfully.

CAUSE

These error messages appear because incorrect versions of MSJT3032.DLL and ODBCJT32.DLL have been installed in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. The error message occurs at the end of Setup when the Jet engine (MSJT3032.DLL) is attempting to configure ODBC data sources. You receive these error messages if ODBCJT32.DLL (version 2.99.1721) and MSJT3032.DLL (version 3.00.xxxx.) are both installed on your computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, rename the MSJT3032.DLL and ODBCJT32.DLL files in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and run the appropriate Setup program again. This will install the updated versions of the MSJT3032.DLL and ODBCJT32.DLL files in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and allow you to successfully complete Setup.
