The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Office for Windows 4.3c on CD-ROM does not contain the clip video and sample video files that are referenced in the last dialog box of the Microsoft Video for Windows Setup program. These sample files are not included with Office; however, their exclusion does not impede the performance or functionality of Video for Windows (VFW).
Note that these sample files are available if you purchase the Microsoft Video for Windows CD separately.
Video for Windows is a part of the Bonus software that is included on the Microsoft Office version 4.3c-CD for Windows. It can be installed from the first compact disc ("Disc 1: Installation Disc") from the BONUS\WINVIDEO subdirectory. The last dialog box of the Video for Windows Setup program states the following:
The CD-ROM disc provided contains clip video and sample video
to get you started working with video in Windows.
This dialog box is displayed after all the files are copied, and it gives
you a choice of Restart Now or Don't Restart Now.
1. Insert the CD labeled "Disc 1: Installation Disc" into the CD-ROM drive.
2. In Windows Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.
3. In the command line box, type the following
<drive>:\BONUS\WINVIDEO\SETUP.EXE
(where <drive> is the letter of the CD-ROM drive), and choose OK. For
example, type the following:
X:\BONUS\WINVIDEO\SETUP.EXE
4. In the first dialog box, type your name and company (optional), and then
choose Continue.
5. For the Installation Options, choose "Video Playback and Video Tools,"
and then choose Continue.
6. For the Sample Video, leave the Sample AVI enabled, and choose Continue.
7. Specify your choice for the Installation Location, and choose Continue.
After the files are copied to the hard disk drive, you will see the
dialog box that mentions the clip video and sample video.
8. Choose Restart Now.
When Windows is restarted, Video for Windows will be successfully installed.
