Shared Apps Set to a UNC Path During Setup on Netware 4.02ID: Q153735
|
When you perform a workstation setup of Microsoft Office for Windows 95, version 7.0 from a server that is running Novell Netware 4.02, the Setup program may incorrectly map the location of shared applications to a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path instead of a network drive letter.
This problem occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
Remove the workstation and administrative installations, install the 32-bit
Microsoft Windows 95 Client for Netware Networks, perform an administrative
setup, and run workstation setup again.
To install the Microsoft Client for Netware Networks, follow these steps:
This problem occurs when you install Microsoft Office for Windows 95,
version 7.0, and you use Novell Netware version 4.02.
This problem does not occur when you install Microsoft Office for Windows
95, version 7.0, and you use Novell Netware version 4.1.
For Windows 95, Microsoft has written a 32-bit NetWare-compatible network
provider and file system driver. The Microsoft Client for NetWare Networks
provides interoperability for NetWare 2.2, 3.x, and 4.x servers running
bindery emulation.
