The information in this article applies to:
If you perform a workstation installation of Microsoft Office for Windows version 4.0, the files for the Microsoft Excel version 4.0 Tutorial will be installed to the destination directory for Office. If this workstation installation is then upgraded to Microsoft Office for Windows version 4.2 or 4.3 by using the workstation installation, these Microsoft Excel version 4.0 Tutorial files remain in the destination directory.
To work around this problem, after you upgrade the workstation installation of Microsoft Office for Windows to either version 4.2 or 4.3, delete the following files from the EXCELCBT directory:
APERTURE.XLW PARTS.WK1
BLUESKY.XLW PHOTOS.XLW
CBTLIB3.DLL SALES.XLW
DELI.XLW SALESREP.XLW
DIVISION.XLW SCHEDULE.FMT
EXCELCBT.CBT SCHEDULE.WK1
EXCELLES.CBT SURVEY.XLW
EXOTIC.FMT TOOLS.XLW
EXOTIC.WK1 WCOAST.XLW
EXPORTS.XLW XLBASICS.CBT
PARTS.FMT YONDER.XLW
For example, if Microsoft Excel version 4.0 is installed into a directory
called C:\OFFICE\EXCEL, there will be a subdirectory called
C:\OFFICE\EXCEL\EXCELCBT. Delete the 22 files listed above from this
directory.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
