In the Microsoft Equation Editor version 1.0, an unrecoverable application error (UAE) may occur if you change the font for the Function style to Fences.
1. Open a Word for Windows version 2.0 document or a Works for Windows
version 2.0 Word Processor document. From the Insert menu, choose
Object.
2. Select Equation in the Object Type box, and choose the OK button.
3. From the Equation Editor Style menu, choose Define.
4. Select Fences in the Function Font box, and choose the OK button.
5. From the Template Palette, choose one of the fence templates to
insert a set of braces into the equation.
6. From the File menu, choose Exit and Return to <DocumentName>.
Choose the Yes button when prompted to update the document.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in versions 2.0 and 2.0a
Word for Windows. This problem was corrected in version 2.0b of Word
for Windows.
