Data Map Object Size Changes After Inserting in DocumentLast reviewed: September 10, 1996Article ID: Q135095 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you insert a Microsoft Data Map object in your document, the map object may increase or decrease in size when you activate the document (click in the document to remove the focus from the object).
CAUSEThis behavior occurs when you insert or activate a Microsoft Data Map object in your document while you view your document with a zoom setting other than 100 percent. For example, if you are viewing your Microsoft Word document or Microsoft PowerPoint slide with a zoom setting of 50 percent, and you insert a map object, when you click on the document to deactivate the map object, the map object decreases in size to about half the original size. If you insert a map object in a document with a zoom setting of 200 percent, when you click the document to deactivate the map object, the map object increases in size to about twice the original size. Note that this behavior does not occur when you insert a map object on a Microsoft Excel worksheet.
WORKAROUNDSTo work around this behavior, use any of the following methods: Method 1: Change the zoom factor in your document to 100% before you insert the map object. You can then change the zoom factor back to the desired setting without affecting the relative size of the map object; that is, the map object will scale appropriately with the zoom setting.Method 2: Adjust the size of the map in your document by dragging the sizing handles for the map object. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
