Draw: Imported Text May Not Display or Clear Correctly

SUMMARY

If you import text into a Microsoft Draw version 1.0 file, it may not display or clear correctly if the coordinates for the text extend beyond the boundaries of Draw.

For example, if you import a Micrografx Designer file that contains text and graphics, and the location of the text extends beyond the boundaries of Draw, the text may not display until you scroll the imported image out of the view and then scroll back to the location of the imported image. Also, if you try to remove the image by selecting it and then pressing the DEL key or choosing Clear from the Edit menu, the image remains on the screen until you change the view. (For example, you could use the scroll bars or select an option from the View menu.)

MORE INFORMATION

This problem occurs because the metafile created when the Designer file is imported contains text coordinates that are far outside the range of Microsoft Draw and that cross the 32K limit of Windows graphics device interface (GDI) coordinate space. Microsoft Draw rejects geometric objects that extend over the boundary, but permits text objects to flow off the page.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
