How to Open a Text File as a Datasheet in Graph

ID: Q94045

The information in this article applies to:

SUMMARY

Comma- and tab-delimited text files may be opened and used as datasheets in Microsoft Graph. To determine how to convert the file, Graph reads the file extensions as show in the following table.

File extension Graph converts file as
   -------------------------------------------------

   .TXT Text only
   .CSV Comma-delimited text
   .TAB Tab-delimited text

If the file extension does not reflect the actual format of the file (for example if a comma-delimited file has a .TAB file extension), Graph may not convert the file correctly.

MORE INFORMATION

The import filter for Graph was designed to use the three letter filename extension to determine the text file's format regardless of the operating system. Macintosh users must also use the three letter extensions as outlined above to obtain the desired import results.
