SUMMARY

In Microsoft Equation Editor, if you type a lowercase Greek character followed by a letter or number, the Greek character is partially overlapped by the letter or number. This problem occurs because Equation Editor, by default, formats lowercase Greek characters as italic. When a non-italic, non-Greek letter or number follows the Greek character, it overlaps the Greek character.

Workaround

After you type the equation, select the Greek lowercase character and choose Define from the Style menu. For the L.C. Greek style, clear the Italic check box and choose the OK button.
