included in Microsoft Office 97. This article contains a list of the
corrected problems.
MORE INFORMATION
If you are using Microsoft Office 97 on a computer running Microsoft
Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft recommends that you obtain Service Pack 2 for
Windows NT 4.0. This service pack may be obtained from the following
location on the Internet:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/nt40/ussp2/
If you download and install Service Pack 2, you should also download and
install additional files from the following location:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/nt40/hotfixes-postSP2/
Service Pack 2 for Windows NT 4.0 corrects the following problems in
Microsoft Office 97:
- Some semitransparent shadows that you create in Office Art and insert
near the bottom of a page do not print correctly over page boundaries.
An updated Pscript.dll, which is included in Service Pack 2, corrects
   this problem.

- Under Windows NT 4.0, your computer may occasionally stop responding
(hang) when you set the active printer with a Visual Basic for
   Applications macro.

- Under Windows NT 4.0, certain ActiveX operations may be problematic.
Specifically, remote procedure call (RPC) calls, where the object ID is
greater than 110, may result in a general protection fault. Automation
interfaces above this threshold are not supported under Windows NT 4.0.
Service Pack 2 raises the limit of RPC calls.

- Windows NT 4.0 copies the files Odbco32.dll and Odbcint.dll without
regard to the version number. This causes a problem with Microsoft
Office 97 Setup, which uses a newer version of these .dll files. The
problem occurs when you install Microsoft Office 97 on Windows NT 3.51
or Windows 95, and then upgrade to Windows NT 4.0.

- When you edit a Microsoft Word document and display the Drawing toolbar,
and then quit Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, the computer may stop
responding and display a blue screen.

- Microsoft Word 97 may occasionally fail to load and display a file that
   contains Javascript.

- When you reverse the buttons on your mouse (left select is set to right,
and right select is set to left) click New on the File menu, and then
click an icon in the New dialog box, nothing happens.

- When you use the SendKeys method in a Visual Basic for Applications
macro in Microsoft Word to paste information into Microsoft Excel, the
   program may stop responding.

- When you view the Choose Columns dialog box in the Query Wizard in
Microsoft Query 97, items in the Available Tables and Columns list box
   are redrawn incorrectly.
For additional information, please see the following article in the
   Microsoft Knowledge Base:
Q157957 Query97: Redraw Problems in Choose Columns Dialog Box

- When you insert a 4 x 4 worksheet in Microsoft Word while the Go To
dialog box is displayed in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Excel stops
   responding.

- You cannot record audio data with MCI Audio.

- When you print a Microsoft Word document to a Hewlett-Packard (HP)
LaserJet 4 or 4MP printer, the server to which the printer is connected
   may unexpectedly stop responding.

In addition, downloading and installing the additional files from the
hotfixes-postSP2 directory will allow you to correct the following problems
caused by Service Pack 2:
- When you attempt to connect to Internet addresses using The Microsoft
Network, you receive the error message "Bad IP Address".
For additional information, please see the following article in the
   Microsoft Knowledge Base:
Q161368 "Bad IP Address" Message After Installing Service Pack 2

- If an application is designed to run at Microsoft Windows NT's priority
level 15, it can cause the system to stop responding or hang.

- You may receive a "STOP 0x0000000A" error message when you try to access
your floppy disk drive or CD-ROM drive while antivirus software is
   running.
