The information in this article applies to:
When you add a border to WordArt text in WordArt, the border is added around the letters themselves. This causes the letters to become thicker and more bold. If the text is shadowed, however, the addition of a border does not cause the shadow to become correspondingly more bold. In other words, the WordArt text itself becomes bolder when you add a border, but its shadow does not. This problem occurs with all the styles of shadow.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
1. In Publisher, choose the WordArt tool and draw a frame. The default
text "Your Text Here" appears in the frame.
2. Choose the Shadow button. Choose the front shadow (in the bottom
left corner of the shadow palette) and choose OK. The shadow appears
in the WordArt frame.
3. Choose the Border button, select the Wide border, and then choose
OK.
The text becomes much bolder, but the shadow stays the same.
