OL97: Cannot Archive Sent Messages If Moved to Another Folder

SYMPTOMS

If you have configured Outlook to deliver new mail to a Personal Folder file, Outlook will not archive sent messages that have been moved from the Sent Items Folder to another Folder.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Start Outlook with a profile configured to deliver new mail to a Personal Folder file.

  2. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Folder.

  3. Enter a name, specify that the folder contains Mail Items, and then click OK.

  4. Send an e-mail message to yourself or someone else.

  5. Once the message has moved from the Outbox folder to the Sent Items folder, move the message from the Sent Items folder to the folder you created in step 3.

  6. On the File menu, click Archive.

  7. Select the folder that you created in step 3.

  8. In the "Archive items older than" area, enter tomorrow's date, and then click OK.

Result: The message you moved in step 5 remains and is not archived.
