The information in this article applies to:
When you receive a mail message containing a shortcut to a mail folder, you cannot drag the shortcut from the mail message to the Outlook bar.
Outlook 97 does not support this type of drag-and-drop procedure.
There are two methods of adding folder shortcuts to the Outlook bar, depending on if the shortcut is to a public folder or a shared private folder.
If the shortcut is to a public folder:
1. On the View menu, click Folder List to display the folder list.
2. Use the mouse pointer to move to the desired public folder.
3. Drag the selected folder from the folder list to the Outlook bar.
If the shortcut is to a shared private folder in an Exchange Server mailbox:
1. On the Tools menu, click Services.
2. Click Properties for Microsoft Exchange Server.
3. Click the Add button on the Advanced tab to specify the shared
mailbox you want to access. This will add that mailbox to your
folder list.
4. Click OK three times to quit the Tools menu.
5. On the View menu, click Folder List to display the desired folder.
6. Drag the selected folder from the folder list to the Outlook bar.
Even though you cannot drag a folder shortcut directly from a message to the Outlook bar, you can drag it to the desktop. This creates an icon that starts Outlook with the focus on the appropriate folder.
