When you shut down the computer without first closing Microsoft Outlook 97, you receive the following message:
Please close all Outlook windows before shutting down the
system. The easiest way to do this is to choose Exit and
Log Off from the File menu.
You are using Microsoft Word (WordMail) as your e-mail editor.
To avoid this message, quit Outlook before shutting down the computer or do not use WordMail as your e-mail editor.
1. Open Outlook.
2. Start WordMail by clicking New Mail Message on the Inbox toolbar.
3. Close the new message without saving.
4. On the Windows Taskbar, click Start and click Shut Down.
5. Click "Shut down the computer?" and click OK.
6. Click OK and quit Outlook as instructed.
NOTE: Choosing either "Restart the computer?" or "Close all programs and log on as a different user?" will not produce the message.
To turn off WordMail as your e-mail editor, do the following:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the E-mail tab, click to clear "Use Microsoft Word as your
e-mail editor."
