When you create a new meeting and invite at least one other person, two entries for the same meeting may appear in your Calendar.
The option to save copies of replies with the original message is selected. As a result, the meeting request that you sent is saved in the Calendar and appears on the same day with the original.
To prevent this from happening follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the Sending tab.
3. Click "In folders other than the Inbox, save replies with original
message" to deselect it, and then click OK.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97.
