OL97: ErrMsg:"<path and filename>.pst could not be accessed"

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to start Microsoft Outlook 97, you may get the following error message:

   Cannot start the reminder services. Unable to show reminders. The
   file <path and filename>.pst could not be accessed because another
   workstation has modified it. Close then restart all mail enabled
   applications.

CAUSE

Either a corrupted service in the profile or too many services in the profile may cause this problem.

RESOLUTION

Create a new profile and add the services back one at a time, testing between each.
