NOTE: The steps outlined in this article may also be used when working with Outlook Express.
You cannot directly export contact addresses from Outlook 97 to Microsoft Internet News and Mail; they must first be exported to a Personal Address Book (PAB) file. You can then import them into Internet Mail and News.
1. On the File menu, Click Import and Export.
2. Click "Export to a file", then click Next.
3. Click the Contact folder to be exported and click Next.
4. Click Personal Address Book and click Next.
Note: If Personal Address Book is not an available option, the Personal Address Book is not an installed service, it must be added to the profile.
The contacts will be inserted into your Personal Address Book file. By default, the name of this file is <profilename>.pab. Where <profilename> is the name of your Exchange profile.
NOTE: Only those contacts with an e-mail name will be exported to the PAB.
1. On the Internet Mail and News File menu, click Import, and then click
Address Book.
2. Click the program from which you are importing, and then click Import.
This procedure imports addresses from your Personal Address Book (.pab) file.
NOTE: Fax addresses are not imported because there is no fax capability in Internet Mail and News. The Import command uses the default user profile in selecting the personal address book file from which to import.
