The information in this article applies to:
When you open a Contact to the Journal page, the focus is on the New Journal Entry button. If you press the ENTER key the focus changes to the Delete Journal Entry button and does not open a new Journal entry as expected.
There are three methods for working around this problem.
After clicking the Journal tab of the Contact click the New Journal Entry button instead of pressing the ENTER key.
After clicking the Journal tab of the Contact, press the TAB key and then SHIFT+TAB to change and then return focus to the New Journal Entry button. Now pressing ENTER works as expected.
On entering the Journal tab of the Contact press the TAB key five times to change the focus to the New Journal Entry button. Now pressing ENTER works as expected.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
1. Open a Contact and click the Journal tab.
2. Press the ENTER key.
When you press ENTER, the focus changes from the New Journal Entry button to the Delete Journal Entry button.
