An annotation mark is added to the beginning of each insertion in a reply or forwarded e-mail message. This mark usually consists of the author's name in brackets.
This is an editing option in Microsoft Outlook 97.
To disable the annotation feature, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. In the Options box, click the Reading tab.
3. Click the "Mark my comments with" check box to clear it.
The annotation is added only if the new text is entered below the top of the original message. For example, a line inserted into the middle of a reply might look like this:
This is old text from the original message.
[John Doe] This is new text.
This is old text from the original message.
When using Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor, this option is not used.
To control comments and revisions in WordMail use the Track Changes option
(on the Tools menu) within the reply or forwarded e-mail message.
