OL97: How to Protect a Custom Form from Changes

SUMMARY

When you create a custom form in Microsoft Outlook 97, you can protect your form from changes by other users. The simplest way to accomplish this is by assigning a password to the form.

To assign a password to your form, do the following:

1. Open the form you want to customize, and on the Tools menu, click Design

   Outlook Form.

2. In design mode, click the Properties page and click to select "Protect
   form design."

3. In the Password box, enter a password. Enter the same password again in
   the Confirm box, and then click OK.

When the design of your form is complete publish your form by doing the following:

1. On the File menu, click "Publish Form As."

2. Enter a name for your form in the Form name box.

3. Click Publish In, select the folder to store the form, then click OK.

4. Click Publish.

5. On the File menu, click Close.

If anyone attempts to switch to design mode while in the form, they will be prompted to enter the password. The correct password must be typed to make changes.
