SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Outlook 97 stores mail created while offline in the Outbox. When you log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server, Outlook sends these messages but it does not place a copy in your Sent Items folder.

RESOLUTION

In order to keep a copy of critical messages composed and sent while offline, follow these steps:

  1. Copy yourself on messages sent offline using either the CC or BCC address fields.

  2. Move those messages to the Sent Items folder once they are received.

MORE INFORMATION

Messages sent using Outlook while working online can be stored in the Sent Items folder. To assure that messages sent while working online are stored in the Sent Items folder, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. On the Sending tab, click to select "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder."
