The maximum length of an Internet Mail account name is 32 characters, if you are using the original Microsoft Outlook 97 Internet Mail service. This limit is 255 characters with the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch (IMEP) installed.
1. On the Tools menu, click Services.
2. Click the Internet Mail Service and then click Properties.
3. If you are NOT using the IMEP, the Account Name is on the General tab of
the Internet Mail dialog box. If you ARE using the IMEP, the Account
Name is on the Servers tab of the IMEP Properties dialog box.

To obtain the IMEP, click Help on the Outlook toolbar, point to Microsoft
on the Web and click Free Stuff. Click "Internet Mail Enhancement Patch
Final Release" to download and install the patch.
