In Microsoft Outlook 97, if you use the Microsoft Network (MSN) along with other services that need a modem, you may find the services in contention for use of the modem.
MSN is set for a persistent connection to the modem.
To turn off the persistent modem connection of MSN:
1. On Tools menu, click Services.
2. In the Services dialog box, click to select "The Microsoft Network
Online Service."
3. Click Properties.
4. In the Microsoft Network dialog box, click to select both the
"Disconnect after Updating Headers from Remote Mail" and "Disconnect
after Transferring Mail from Remote Mail" check boxes.
5. Click OK.
If you use the "Check for New Mail" command on the Tools menu, it is not possible to dictate the sequence in which the various services check for mail. To check for mail on a specific service, use the "Check for New Mail on" command, and then select the service from the list.
