When typing a message in Microsoft Outlook 97 version 8.01, the Office Assistant does not move out of the way as expected.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97 version 8.01. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
This problem did not occur in Outlook version 8.0.
1. In Outlook version 8.01, right-click the Microsoft Office
Assistant.
2. On the shortcut menu, click Options.
3. On the Options tab, click to select, "Move when in the way", and click
OK.
4. On the Compose menu, click "New Mail Message."
5. Drag the Office Assistant to a location that will be in the path of
your typing.
6. Type until the cursor disappears under the Office Assistant.
Expected: The Office Assistant should move out of the way of the cursor.
