OL97: Some Manual Journal Entries Are Not Logged to Contacts

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook, a manual Journal entry may not be logged to the Contact's Journal page.

CAUSE

You started the entry from the Journal folder with a New Journal entry, and used the Address Book to retrieve the Contact's name for the Journal entry.

WORKAROUND

To log a manual Journal entry to a Contact, you must either initiate the manual entry from the open Contact record, or select the Contact's name from the Global or Pesonal Address Book.

Method 1

To start the manual entry from the open Contact, do the following:

1. Open the Contact record.

2. Click the Journal tab.

3. Click New Journal Entry and enter the desired information.

4. Click Save and then Close.

RESULT: The entry will be logged properly.

Method 2

To start the manual entry from the Journal folder, do the following:

1. In the Journal folder, click the New Journal button.

2. Type an entry on the Subject line.

3. Click Address Book next to the Contact line.

4. Select the Contact name from the Global Address Book or the Personal

   Address Book. Or type in the name and resolve it by clicking
   Check Names.

5. Click Save and then Close.

6. In the Contacts folder, click the Contact chosen in step 4 above.

7. Click the Journal tab.

RESULT: The entry is logged to the Contact as expected.
