When you set a reminder for a appointment or a task in Microsoft Outlook 97, you can select from a list of predefined times for the reminder to occur before the event. You can also enter non-predefined times manually. This article describes how to do this.
You can choose a time from a predefined list or you can use an Outlook feature called AutoDate. AutoDate allows you to type a description of a date or time in words. The words will then be translated into a date/time numeric value.
1. In the Calendar folder, on the Calendar menu, click New Appointment.
2. Enter the information about the meeting and then click
to select Reminder.
3. Rather than selecting one of the predefined times from the
list, type a value such as 12 minutes, or 30 hours, or a time beyond the
predefined times such as 1 week.
NOTE: Values entered for the reminder must be relative to the scheduled
date and time for the meeting. A value of "next Tuesday" will not work
because it is relative to today rather than the scheduled time of the
meeting.
The AutoDate feature is available in all Outlook date and time fields. For more information about AutoDate type, AutoDate in the Office Assistant, click Search, and then click to view "What you can type in date and time fields."
