SYMPTOMSSome applications, such as File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or Internet Relay Chat (IRC) may pause for long periods of time or fail to connect when used from behind Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 with packet filtering select (enabled).
CAUSEThe packet filtering feature of Proxy Server 2.0 may be blocking Identification Protocol (Identd) requests from the Internet. Some Internet servers try to use the Identd protocol to identify other hosts on the Internet.
RESOLUTIONThe predefined filter for Identd needs to be added.
